Because of the dominance of the fireplace wall, the treatment of the fireplace has become an important aspect of design in the home.
Our goal has been to create, develop and continuously improve a line of proprietary custom made fireplace furnishings that, while enhancing the beauty of the home in a sometimes transformative way, also provides practical solutions for issues of scale, balance and proportion in problematic fireplaces.
It is here where Stone Manufacturing Company excels, since many of its design elements are created to resolve issues with fireplaces. These designs can be incorporated to correct undersized fireplace openings, to screen large fireplace openings, to anchor raised openings to the hearth or merely to hide ugly openings.
The products are hand-made to order, one piece at a time, under our roof in California, USA. From initial design, through fabrication and finishing, to final assembly and packaging, the process is distinguished by meticulous attention to every detail. In fact every item is individually bench-tested and signed off for quality assurance to meet our high expectations of performance and appearance.
Created in a traditional workshop environment by our artisans, who are master craftsmen in fabrication and finishing with decades of experience with our Company, the broad range of coordinated accessories are fully customizable for style, finish, size, shape and fit.
Made of the finest materials such as solid brass and bronze, stainless steel and hand-wrought iron, whether for indoor or outdoor use, unique and innovative designs are offered using proprietary molds, dies and even finishes and textures.
At a time when there has been a flight of manufacturing to foreign countries, Stone Manufacturing Company is proud to stand virtually alone in continuing a six decades tradition of offering custom products made in U.S.A. in our own manufacturing facility in sunny Southern California.
We are proud to say that our skill-set is ever growing, and that innovation as well as the preservation of time-honored techniques is alive and well at Stone Manufacturing Company.
GREEN MANUFACTURING
Over the years Stone Manufacturing Company has moved voluntarily, ahead of environmental compliance requirements, to reduce its manufacturing emissions.By the mantra of Reduce, Re-use and Recycle, we have taken significant and often costly steps to minimize the environmental impact of our manufacturing process.
For example, we reduce VOC emissions by using custom-formulated water-based baked-on enamel coatings (which require a higher application skill-set) rather than easily applied air-dry lacquers. We use acetone* and a toothbrush and cloth to wipe clean our parts from waxy polishing compounds before painting, rather than using solvent cleaning tanks.
We re-use spent gear oil from our machines as cutting oil for our lathes.
We recycle our waste water stream.
In fact, at every turn we are looking for ways to reduce our carbon footprint/green house gas emissions, which have already been reduced to non-reportable levels.
*Acetone is safe for environmental and human exposure. Acetone is a VOC-exempt solvent since it is produced by nearly all plants and animals and is completely biodegradable in the air, water, and soil. Health concerns with acetone exposure are almost negligible as its toxicity is on par with table salt.
